Wed, May 26, 2010 at 11:07 AM it's hard to believe it's getting to be the end of may and that father's day is around the corner (june 20!). because dads are so special, i wanted to be sure you had plenty of time to find the PERFECT gift. i'm going to do a couple of these gift guides over the next few days...

for the dad who loves history, one of these presidential pillows would be great. they also have thomas jefferson! here, here, and here.

for the dad who loves art and the great outdoors, this would be so great.

for the dad who loves watching things grow, one of these amazing terrariums would be great. found here and here. (i love the glass and rope one on the right!)

what better gift for your favorite child super hero than a world repair kit? i would love to sit in a treehouse and plot the next steps to make this world a little better. hope you had a wonderful weekend!!

Mon, May 10, 2010 at 9:49 AM it has been so fun to do this little mother's day etsy guide! a little thought: basically all the gifts here would be GREAT for bridesmaids for all you brides-to-be! (and all great gifts for your wife if your name is flightsuit :) so without further ado, for all the moms out there who still need gifts, some ideas!

this fabulous tea towel! (i love the pop of red in a kitchen!)
next up, for mom's who love a good journal, relaxing sunday afternoon, and witty humor:

this fabulous poster. (perfect for her reading nook!)
so excited about this! any one or combination of these things would be perfect for the mom who loves a good splash of color, to shop at farmers markets, and share trusted recipes:

this perfect vintage french striped tote. (i'm in love).

so, i love my readers, and one of you (wink, wink john's hopkins med school!) sent me this amazing idea: would i be willing to do a series of posts for care packages you can send your mom for mother's day-- especially things from etsy. (in a word: yes)
so, this has been so much fun to put together, and we'll kick it off today! i'm going to do a couple of them so you can find something perfect for your mom!
p.s. photo is me & my mom a couple of years ago ;)

dear new orleans was a site created for people to write love notes to the city of new orleans in the aftermath of hurricane katrina. now, they've expanded those love notes, including ones from the people of new orleans to the people of haiti. what incredible works of art, and love.

i just LOVE these. what a conversation piece! (the recipe is for irish soda bread). pilosale has tons more here, including a stunning advent calendar!

i love getting/giving flowers (especially tulips) as much as the next girl, but sometimes you just wish you could show up with some homemade chocolate chip cookies. and when you're too far away, it's hard to beat sending some of uncle chip's cookies. perhaps even better than the cookies are the witty cards they come with. my favorite? "cookies are good. steak is good. corn dogs are good. but, you are fabulous! have a cookie." runner-up? "you don't live with your parents any more! have a cookie."
