so, this past weekend's target run was soooo exciting because liberty of london's spring line was everywhere! i got a super cute clipboard/portfolio and a little dress. their patterns are so bright! i could have gone to town with the home organization line too :) i'm really loving when target pairs with designers from around the world, then again, there are few things i don't love about target...

i LOVE alice water's the art of simple food. when i was looking for a good spring soup to make ahead so i had something other than turkey sandwiches for lunch last week, i stumbled upon this recipe. so ridiculously simple and so, so good with a french baguette and brie.

i can't tell you how much fun it has been to "relive" our wedding through tulips & flightsuits. planning this wedding was such an amazing experience for us, mainly because we cared about each detail, but only in so much as it let our guests know how grateful we are to have them in our lives and led to something great in our marriage.

so, we needed a little artwork in our guest room. i was inspired by a photo of a big old chalkboard above a bed with a chalk drawing of cute little bird on a limb welcoming the guests. sounds like a perfect weekend project to me!
turns out, we had a tough time finding a chalkboard the right size. so, we went to lowes and got some hardboard (really thin, smooth wood) and chalkboard paint. then we bought a "rustic" barn looking frame at hobby lobby. we had some left over white interior paint from painting our coffee table for the frame.
so, my truly incredible husband (i had to leave town right in the middle of this and we had guests coming!) did the rest. and look how great it is! if we weren't renting, i'd do a whole wall in chalkboard paint!
instead of a bird, i felt like a friendly helicopter (inspired by this!) would be the perfect welcome for our guests.

happy weekend!
tonight we're having some friends over to cook out and watch the ncaa tournament (i looovvee march madness). i'm also really excited to go to the hockey game tomorrow night with ryan's squadron (which got me thinking about mighty ducks, such a classic!) and enjoy the spring sunshine.
really excited for tulips & flightsuits next week-- I'll do a big wedding round up, we can do a little q&a, and i'll finally tell you about our incredible honeymoon. thanks so much for stopping by, it means so much.
