timeless wedding & two dresses.

when i shared our dear friend's engagement photographs a few weeks ago, i promised some more wedding goodness. well, you're going to get wedding & honeymoon details from the amazing couple above -- i'm so excited!
so, to start, sarah, the BEAUTIFUL bride, & i grew up together. our moms are BFFs/practically twins & we've known each other our entire lives. i could go on for pages, but let's just say sarah & her amazing twin sister are named sarah & mary (my mom & my names) & we have been at an annual christmas party our entire lives together. we also both have been subject to eerily similar mothering, meaning we commiserated about not being able to read seventeen magazine until we were twenty years old and no longer interested. ok, tangent complete, all this to say, i love this wedding, this bride & am so excited to share it with you.
there is a lot i could focus on, but you know what i really think is important about weddings is every day after (you know, married life!). i love how this wedding is classic, timeless -- & how it looks outward.
that begins with the bride's dress -- as you may have picked up on from the photographs, sarah wore the same dress her mother & grandmother wore for their weddings. (i don't know about you, but the photo of the three of them together makes me tear up). what an incredible way to root your marriage in two marriages that have had a profound impact on your life. i also LOVE that she then changed into a classic dress (last photo) that she will be able to wear time & time again. i can imagine her wearing it to dinner on their first anniversary or on a special date night -- and how incredible to think back on when she wore it first? knowing this couple & hearing about their day from my mom & dad, i know this was a day that was completely focused on what sustains a marriage -- love for one another & the family/friends who will be by your side all the days to come.
i'm so grateful to their photographer, annie sturgis, for allowing me to share these photographs with you -- she has tons more incredible images from this wedding right here on her blog!
back soon with their creative honeymoon -- they went to charleston, sc & new york city!
p.s. sarah was one of the VERY first readers of t&f. she has been such an encouragement to me every step of the way with this blog, so, so grateful for that! xo

Gorgeous!! I love the same things as you love about this: the photo with her mom and Grandmother, the fact that she wore the dress they wore on their big wedding days (incredible!!), and the practicality and beauty of her second dress. Congrats to your friend!!! :)
Love this story. I wore my mother's wedding dress as well. It was the same dress worn by my grandmother and her two sisters along with two of their daughters and another granddaughter. (I was number 8!) It was such an amazing part of my wedding day, and I am sure that she feels the same. :)
