the paris wife.

i just finished this book (loaned to me by one of ryan's wonderful aunts!) & couldn't wait to share it with you. the paris wife is told from the perspective of ernest hemingway's first wife, hadley. it's story of their newlywed days & their time in paris (including friendships with picasso, ezra pound & f. scott fitzgerald). it's written in such an authentic voice that it drops you in paris in the early 1920's and let's you have a front row seat to a young marriage long before anyone knew who ernest hemingway was. it's perfect for a long winter's night read! what are you reading these days? xo

I just finished the Underside of Joy by Seré Prince Halverson and it was great! Not something I might normally pick up, but I really enjoyed it. I've only heard good things about the Paris Wife too. Did it make you want to pick up some Hemingway?

Loved this book! It is at a similar time as A Moveable Feast, but Hadley is much more likable!

I really enjoyed this book! We read it for my book club recently. I just finished Bossypants. It has been on my list forever, but life kept getting in the way. It was hilarious and I really enjoyed it. Now I need to read next month's book club book, we chose a mystery: In the Belly of Jonah. Should be interesting!

Hi Mary! If you like "The Paris Wife" you should see the movie, Midnight in Paris... all the same characters and just a happy, quirky Woody Allen movie :)

mmmmm I'm not sure if my other comment went through, so I will say it again -- if you haven't seen it, you should watch "Midnight in Paris" -- cute, quirky Woody Allen movie with Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, the Fitzgeralds. All very charming!
