giveaway: decorate!

i'm beyond excited to share the book that's front & center on our coffee table right now: decorate. from the moment i heard about it, i was excited (hello, it's by holly of decor8!), but when i finally got a chance to curl up with it and dive in, it got even better. you see, there's a part of me that wishes i'd gone into interior design (funny because i never even considered it while in school) & that secretly wishes i had more tools, advice, inspiration in my back pocket when i'm thinking about what to do with a room.
this book does all that & more. it has rock-your-world quotes like this: "i love a well-traveled, eclectic house with furniture & objects, layered one upon the other, that tell a story about who lives there, where they've been & what they love. there's nothing worse than walking into someone's house that looks like they just called up a decorator!" (eddie ross, designer). it has room by room inspiration & guidance. it has something for every style. & it has room diagrams i was drooling over (gosh i wish i took the time to do that before i dove in, look at all the possibilities with one room!). bottom line: i'm considering this my 101 course in how i might bit by bit, room by room, house by house, learn what it really means to really decorate. did i mention the photography is stunning?
so, pop over to chronicle books & get yourself a little treat. or buy one for your mom. or as a wedding present. or birthday gift. i promise it's bound to please.
the best news: chronicle books (i love them) has generously offered to giveaway a copy on t&f! all you have to do is leave a comment with how you'd use your copy of decorate to do some good in your own home! winner will be announced wednesday! good luck! xo
p.s. thrilled to join another favorite blog of mine, hooray, who is talking about decorate too today!

We'll be moving in the next year, hopefully to the place (hear that, Air Force?), and so I would use decorate to spruce up our new home(s).
I would use this book to help decorate my newlywed nest!

Every room in our home would benefit! The philosophy fits my vision, perfectly!

...happy that you're feeling better.....
My husband's next assignment is Sigonella, a Naval Air Station in Italy; we're leaving in just a few weeks. I'll have an Italian home to decorate (not on base) and will need all the inspiration and guidance I can get to help me begin!
Parts of our house have not been fully realized since we moved in, um, two YEARS ago. Living room bookshelves, our bedroom... Kind of important spaces! I would love to use this book for inspiration and motivation!
I live in an upstairs efficiency, which requires some serious creativity when it comes to balance and style. I’d love some assistance in optimizing my little space!
We will be getting our first duty station within the next year, somewhere to live for three whole years, and I am thrilled to be able to seriously decorate. This book would encourage me in that.
My husband and I are in the process of renovating our house which was built in 1902. We've finished the kitchen, but need some assistance with the bathroom and bedrooms. This book would be wonderful!
I love to experiment with new colors and textures in my little apartment. Switching things out every now and then, putting the new with the old, adding pops of color, etc. This amazing book would be the perfect guide for my otherwise blind experiments! Plus, it'd be a great addition to my coffee table... a perfect conversation starter for guests and a reminder of where to look for inspiration. I can't wait to dig in :) I'd love to receive this giveaway of decorate, Mary. Thank you!!!
we're moving from a sleek downtown 2-bedroom high-rise to a cozy 1 bedroom cottage in a quaint college town this september... this book would help make our newest house a home and help me decorate/design to avoid the "too much clutter" problem that usually plagues my decorating style.
We're moving after my husband wings in August, so I'd use Decorate for extra inspiration at our next place.
Just discovered your lovely blog through the book tour! I would give this book to my good friend in Portland, OR, who is a newlywed teacher (i.e. low budget!) and just moved into a new apartment.
To revamp our tiny basement apartment in DC!
I was born with very nomadic tendencies. I love to travel from city to city, discover the new place until it feels like home and then move again. That was my life for the last seven years, but for now I am settled somewhere and I find myself unable to decorate fully because I am so used to paring my life down to the essentials for easy portability. I would love to use this book to expand my understanding of decorating and get some tips on how to make our new house a home.
CAN'T WAIT to decorate the new house in Hawaii... when we get there, of course!!!
my bedroom is a disaster! drab walls...three pieces of furniture...nothing on the walls! this book would be perfect! (: i'm going to school to study interior design...so i would absolutely love to gobble up this book!
Let's see.... finally done with grad school in December and moving into a new place, and my boyfriend is constantly in need of my advice in terms of home decorating (or so I think). I would love this book!!
My own Navy pilot is about to deploy, leaving me to keep myself busy with decorative endeavors. I like to make things beautiful, but would really benefit from knowing the right way to do so. I need inspiration!
We're getting married in November and I'd love ideas on how to make our house a home!
I've been coveting this book for inspiration in my own home. Oh yes! Pick me, please!
