I was actually amazed at how much reading I did with a newborn! No one had warned me that spending so much time in a chair nursing and cradling a sleeping baby would mean valuable reading time. I think I read four or five books in the first 6 weeks. I guess some people like to watch TV or peruse the internet while nursing but I found the quiet days (and nights) with my daughter and a good book to be so restorative. Not to mention productive. Stock up on reading material and enjoy!

It seems like everyone is posting about books today! I didn't get much reading done when nursing my newborn, but if I had owned a Nook or Kindle it would have made things soooo much easier. I'm finally at the point where I'm no longer only reading parenting books -- it feels like I've crossed some sort of finish line :) I am really looking forward to reading the sequel to Good Graces by Lesley Kagen, the sequel to Whistling in the Dark. Oh, and the third book in the Flavia de Luce mystery series. Mindy Kaling's book is definitely on my Christmas wish list, too!

I just finished an amusing read called Raising the Perfect Child Through Guilt and Manipulation by Elizabeth Beckwith. It isn't so much the parenting book that one would guess (HA!), but it is quirky read that I quite liked. Now I'm on to more serious, intelligent reads--namely, The Lemon Tree. I've been dying to get my hands on Mindy Kaling's book. It might be how I spend a chunk of my Thanksgiving break!
