navy wife guide: pensacola eats.

so, we're wrapping up our time in p'cola. i can hardly believe it -- ryan has been stationed here for two years -- which has been during our dating, engagement, and first year of marriage. we also LOVE it here. my hope is some military wives down the road find these posts and some joy from our favorite spots. first up, great places to eat!

when you're out at p'cola beach, our two favorites are flounders and surf burger. get the shrimp platter at flounders (try the mile high key lime pie at least one time too!) and the fish tacos at surf burger are a-mazing.

if you are looking for an awesome local grocery store and the BEST sandwiches in p'cola, look no further than apple market. it's on our favorite road, scenic highway and i highly recommend this sandwich: turkey, gouda, lettuce, spicy mustard on a french roll. or, go with ryan's regular: the southwestern, he like to add pesto. it is so, so good. the drowsy poet coffee shop inside is adorable and perfect for an afternoon latte.

need another awesome sandwich? this place, city grocery, is hidden on 12th street and another great lunch spot.
ok, lots more without cute photos :)
great pizza: hopjacks (get the duck fries as an appetizer!) or ozone (try the pesto sampler as an appetizer!)
dive bar downtown: hub stacey's (best ham & cheese sandwich of my life)
sushi: dharma blue on seville square is great
become regulars at: mellow mushroom (the soft pretzels are the best!!) and it's right by the movie theater, which is our favorite outing.
thai: siam diner (the best pad thai we found, at the great recommendation of a marine wife!)
date night: the global grill (incredible tapas!) on palafax downtown, or if you're up in milton, we LOVE blackwater bistro (& it's military owned!)
as you can see, we've loved eating our way around p'cola and i know i have lots of great military wife readers, so chime in with your favorites in the comments! up next, our favorite places to go & things to do!
military wife & life,
pack your bags

Loved Hub Stacey's for lunch outside on their cute patio! Also, Fish House for their Sunday Champagne brunch... A-mazing!
Don't forget Ozone Pizza Pub... they have the best pesto appetizer, and the pizza is incredible!
Yes! You can't forget Fish house, Peg Leg's at the beach, Jerry's Cajun for some spicy fare, and Ichiban for sushi...by far global is the best!
Can anyone recommend a good area to live in Pensacola? We are looking at houses, hubby is set to be there at the end of the month, and it would be nice to know areas to stay away from. Right now I'm considering the Myrtle Grove area b/c it's close to the base d/h will be working at, but I'd rather live somewhere either downtown (near the mall) or Perdido Key area. I have never been there though and know nothing about the neighborhoods. I've just been looking at Google maps trying to figure out where we'd be the closest to the beach, the base AND stuff to do. Any thoughts or resources would be greatly appreciated. ..and once we sell our current house and move down there, I will DEFINITELY be using dining guide. Great find;)
