surprise birthday party.

 

 

you have no idea how much i wanted to tell you on friday about our BIG plans, but i couldn't because i definitely would have ruined the surprise. my MOH (maid of honor), lizzie and her boyfriend nate were coming to town and it's lizzie's birthday month. she, like me, takes birthdays very seriously. so, even though it was 10 days before the big day, ryan & i decided she needed a proper celebration.

so we got some pink balloons (tangent: i forgot that without helium they wouldn't float, so the question was, what to do with them? answer: drop them on her as she came in! i'll let lizzie tell you the rest of that story!) and i crafted a menu with two of our favorites. smitten kitchen and orangette/homemade life. we pretended like we were on a first name basis with deb and molly. so we had molly's cherry, arugala and bread salad. then, deb's chicken milanese. we topped it all off with deb's pink lady cake.

it was so fun. and honestly none of it would have happened without my husband and brooks who helped me when i had bitten off a tad more than i could chew in the hour before the birthday girl arrived.
