another cake.

if you've been reading t&f for a while you know i love non-birthday cakes. a dear friend getting home from afghanistan was more than reason to make a cake. i love icing pens to say just what you want to!

i also got to put one of my fav wedding presents to good use. seriously, i knew i would love this thing, but had no idea i would sit and watch it mix. every time i use it i marvel at how good it is! it's like when i go to the dollar and confirm time and time again that all these things really cost a dollar!

could not agree more!!! i LOVE my stand mixer- i made it a goal to use it once a week and i easily find more reasons than that to use it. i love letting things mix while i walk away and do something else, like get a head start on dishes. or watch the boats go by :)

speaking of "cakes for no reason"- i made smitten kitchen's raspberry buttermilk cake to have with dinner last night (and lunch today... and dinner tonight... and breakfast too.... :)

seriously it is AMAZING. SO easy, less than an hour and it is deeeeeeeeelicious.
