pasta and tomatoes.
this has become my favorite new simple dinner:

we try a new brand of organic/good looking pasta sauce, some whole wheat pasta and a good bottle of red wine (my sweet friend got me into malbecs recently and they've changed how i feel about red wine), and voila:

there's just something so fresh and easy about this. my sweet husband made this last night and walking in the door from yoga to this just made my monday night. got any pasta sauces i should know about? i still want to try making this sauce from scratch-- looks amazing!!

I haven't tried that brand of pasta sauce, but my favorite thing to do with store-bought marinara is add some Italian sausage, fresh garlic, capers, and mushrooms. Austin's probably eaten this more times than he cares to tell about, but we both love it!

Italians turn their noses up at it. But us kids raised by Irish mothers don't know any better! Brings back childhood memories. "Mom...why are you putting ketchup on my pasta?"
