farm tables i love.

so, remember how i told you i had this idea that i wanted our reception in a rustic barn? (if you read wedding blogs, you know how much incredible inspiration is out there!) well, the best bet for us in old town alexandria, was an old torpedo factory turned arts center WITH farm tables! so, I searched high and low and found out party rental ltd. had just what I was looking for! so...

we rented these tables (which look even better in person)

half of our chairs were the ones above (three slats), and half were these (four slats). we alternated them every other chair:

which gave us some great height variation!
and then... my dream came true. they had a barn door bar...

a-mazing. so, because our wedding was in november and we're big on family dinners, (and we only had 120 guests), we were able to do two long tables. 60 guests at each, 30 on each side, and the groom and i were in the middle of one of the tables facing all our guests. it truly felt like a giant family dinner. and i loved every second of it.
renting these items became one of the most expensive items on our budget, but for us, it was so worth it. and our guests really loved it -- my favorite comment was from one of my mom's friends who sent me an email after the wedding saying "wow! forget round tables EVER again!" the tables allowed more of our guests to talk and feel like we were truly sharing a meal, all one hundred and twenty of us.

lots more on the tables to come (you've seen the flowers) next up: our jar placecards, place settings and what we served for dinner... let's just say it was unexpected :) dessert too!
all of our wedding bliss is here!

My sister showed me your blog; what a fantastic idea for your reception! Isn't it wonderful when the real thing turns out just as good (or better) than it did in concept? I love the alternating chair heights, too!
Great blog!
