snow day road trip

the company i work for is based out of dc, and today that meant a snow day! so, even though i'm in sunny pensacola, it was my husband's last day before a new phase of flight training, so we took the afternoon for a little road trip to fairhope, alabama. i put on my current favorite j.crew winter in the south road trip outfit: this and this

and we jumped in our 4-runner, which we call "blue moon"

and made our way to this precious little town of fairhope that had lots of great local eateries and cozy streets to wander around. while we were there, we fell in love with a big, comfy linen couch. and somehow we made it out of the store without it. it sort of looked like this, but even better.

we took back roads, turned off the route our gps told us to go, and it was great. one of our road trip musts? smartwater. sorry, we're water snobs.

and then, when we weren't quite ready to head home, we decided to head around the bay to mobile, alabama for dinner. and the perfect end to the perfect snow day road trip was stumbling upon wintzell's oyster house. they have clever signs on the wall, my favorite of which said, "free oysters to any man 80 years or older who is accompanied by his father." love it.

please tell me you didn't take that picture up top in the middle of winter... it will make me even more jealous that you don't have to live in indiana! :)
