grateful doesn't begin to describe how i feel this thanksgiving. grateful for the roof over our head and the warm meals we're blessed with.
grateful for the men and women who are away from their family, in harms way, wearing our country's uniform, this thanksgiving. grateful for their families whose strength through that gaping absence in their lives literally makes me cry.
grateful for my family who is here (& bro on his way!) to spend thanksgiving in our new digs. they'll stand by us even if the turkey is undercooked/burnt, the new sweet potato recipe isn't up to par, and any other number of snafus. they'll make us laugh and feel loved and be a constant reminder of what really matters. (last night we had a good laugh about all the new places ryan is taking my family to: p'cola, norfolk...)
grateful for the friends who are like family -- who have truly enriched our lives. i love being at their weddings, having them join us for dinner, exchanging emails/calls/letters/smoke signals, visiting one another and simply going through life with them.
grateful for small things: grande nonfat lattes from a local coffee house. yoga. a really, really good book. simple, good dinners that nourish us and can be made in short order. christmas trees. road trips. those conversations, the ones that hit a chord deep in your soul. going to the movies. pretty much anything from j. crew. babies making funny faces.
grateful for a persistent belief that we can find joy, and live simply so others can simply live, and care for one another, which is why i write here and why it means so much you swing by t&f.
have such a happy thanksgiving! xo
